Christmas is only a few short weeks away and many Salvation Army locations are celebrating the holiday season with their communities. Earlier this month, The Salvation Army Whitby Community Church hosted a community event called, ‘Breakfast with Santa’.

Anyone interested in enjoying a warm meal was welcomed to join the church for a delicious pancake breakfast bright and early in the morning. “As part of our outreach ministry, we invited families from our community to come and eat together,” says Carolyn Kitney, Program Coordinator for The Salvation Army Whitby Community Church. “Everyone was invited to come.”

The air was filled with Christmas joy as guests enjoyed activities which included arts and crafts, face painting and even cupcake decorating. “The smiles and laughter really spoke volumes as to how incredibly joyous everyone was,” says Major Donette Percy, Pastor at The Salvation Army Whitby Community Church.

Santa Claus was also seen roaming the church halls, greeting guests and taking photos!

“Breakfast with Santa is an incredible ministry that connects us to our community,” says Major Percy. With the help of our volunteers, over 80 guests were able to enjoy the blessings of the season: love, hope and joy. “The event was fun, exciting, energizing and our team of volunteers were fantastic,” says Major Percy. “It’s what being a community church all is about.”
