Tuesday, January 21 The Salvation Army Centre of Hope in London celebrated 2 years with no loss time due to workplace injuries or illness.  In recognition meals were provided for all three shifts of staff.  There were prizes for staff and all left with a chocolate bar that featured a thank you on the back in all the different languages that the staff speak.

Representatives from Divisional and Territorial Headquarters joined staff and management for a special lunch celebration.  Bev Cooey, Territorial Health & Safety Consultant, presented the Centre with a 2013 Certificate of Ministry Unit Health and Safety Excellence, to recognize the dedication and participation in The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory’s health and Safety Program.

“We are truly proud of our staff for continuing to remember to put safety first in everything they do at work and at home”, says Nancy Therrien, Environmental Services Director and Co-Chair of the Centre’s Health & Safety Committee.

“A few things that we do to keep safety in the front of everyone’s mind is a white board in the staff lounge that we mark down each day how many days it has been since one of our staff had to loose time at work caused from a work related injury  Also a Health & Saftey (H&S) calendar is created each year to ensure all staff are provided with the appropriate training, H&S topic is on each departmental meeting agenda, and we have a H&S orientation class for all new employees.”

Well done to all the staff and management at the Centre of Hope.
