The Salvation Army Grace Scholarship

    Established by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador in honor of The Salvation Army Grace General Hospital.

    Four scholarships of $1,200 each are awarded annually by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to nursing students, in each of the partner sites offering the Bachelor of Nursing (collaborative) Program, who have completed the Fall and Winter Semesters of the third year of the Program.  (*Two to be awarded at the Centre of Nursing Studies, one at Memorial Faculty of Nursing, and one at Western Regional School of Nursing).

    The candidate must:

    1. Have completed a minimum of three courses in each of the Fall and Winter Semesters of Year 3 and are enrolled in NURS3523 for the current academic year.
    2. Have a minimum cumulative average of 75% in all program course requirements completed by the end of Winter Semester in Year 3.
    3. Provide an official transcript of grades.
    4. Have one letter of recommendation from a faculty member teaching in NURS3501, NURS3514, NURS3513 (Regular Stream), or NURS3512 (Fast Track).
    5. Provide a letter of recommendation that needs to be supported by specific examples, i.e. how the student demonstrated independence and self-direction in clinical practice, and how the student applied theoretical concepts in the practice setting.
    6. Have demonstrated evidence of significant community service including participation in Christian activities during enrollment in the Program.
      • Church connection or involvement
      • Link with your own community church through regular attendance and activity
      • Involvement with campus Christian groups or ministries (e.g. SASF, MUN CF)
      • Evidence of community service /volunteerism
    7. Submit a completed scholarship application form.

     

    The selection of scholarship recipients will be undertaken by The Salvation Army Grace Scholarship Committee.
