PAUL KOREEN, Chair

The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda National Advisory Board

Paul Koreen is Partner/Chief Operating Officer for KCI, Canada’s largest national consulting firm focused exclusively on the charitable sector.  In this role, he is responsible for the leadership of KCI’s finance, communications, IT and human resources functions, as well as for collaborating on the strategic growth and development of the firm. His education in economics (BA Economics, Hamilton College, Magna Cum Laude) and management (MBA, U of T Rotman School of Management, Dean’s List; and Harvard Business School Executive Education) coupled with his background in fundraising, provide him with a strong foundation on which to lead KCI’s operations. Earlier with the firm, Paul served as KCI Consultant for a number of hospital foundation and community service clients, undertaking major capital campaigns.

Passionate about investing in Canada’s non-profit sector, Paul currently serves as the Chair of the National Advisory Board of The Salvation Army; on the Board of Strides Toronto; and is Treasurer for The Giving Institute, North America’s leading association of consultants to the charitable sector.  Previously, he volunteered for nearly 20 years with United Way Greater Toronto, most recently serving on the Community Impact Committee.  He also represented United Way on the Funders’ Committee for the Toronto Enterprise Fund, a program that supports the start-up, sustainability, and scaling of employment social enterprises across the GTA.

NANCIE LATAILLE, Vice Chair

The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda National Advisory Board

Nancie Lataille is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Toronto office and a co-managing partner for the global Consumer Products sector. She also leads the CEO & Board of Directors and Legal, Risk, Compliance & Government Affairs practices in Canada.

Nancie is widely recognized as a leader in her profession. She brings breadth and depth in advising Canadian and international companies in the areas of CEO & Board succession planning, assessment, recruitment, and effectiveness. She also serves as a trusted advisor to clients in helping navigate the rapidly changing global talent marketplace. Highly regarded for her comprehensive yet tailored approach, Nancie leads with integrity and industry acumen commensurate with clients she partners with, from start-ups to market leaders here and abroad.

With more than 20 years of experience in talent management, Nancie’s approach is rooted in her early experience as a lawyer with leading law firms in Toronto and Montreal.  Nancie also participates in several internal firm-building initiatives at Heidrick & Struggles such as the Global Consultant Promotion Committee and is the co-dean for the firm’s flagship leadership development program, Accelerating Women’s Excellence (AWE). She also remains active as a founding member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Council.

Nancie received the professional board advisor designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She has served on several boards and non-profits in Canada.  A Montrealer by background, Nancie is bilingual and fluent in both French and English.  Nancie earned a bachelor of laws in common law from Osgoode Hall Law School and a bachelor of laws in civil law from Université de Montréal.

DANIEL BURNS

Daniel Burns, a longtime senior public servant, retired from the position of Deputy Minister at the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care at the end of January 2002 after serving in the Government of Ontario since 1991. He is a director or trustee of several corporations, teaches and consults in public policy and public administration.

In 1971 he worked for the Federal Government’s Low Income Housing Task Force and worked for three years for the Ontario Welfare Council.  In 1975 he joined the staff of the City of Toronto Planning Board as a community planner. In 1978 he was appointed Director of the Board’s Neighbourhood Planning Division. In addition to responsibility for developing community plans, this Division had responsibilities in areas such as development control, social planning, and neighbourhood improvement. In 1988 Dan was appointed Commissioner of Housing for the City of Toronto. He was responsible for the City’s non-profit housing company, Cityhome, and for its residential land development program.

Dan is a member of the Board of the Maytree Foundation and of the Board of the Ireland Park Foundation.  He was a member of the Advisory Board for the Ontario Central division of The Salvation Army. From 2002 until 2012 he was a member of the Board of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), serving the last three years as Chair. From 2004 until 2012 he was a member of the Advisory Board of Specialty Care, a company in the long term care and retirement home businesses. From 1991 until 2003 and again from 2009 to 2011 he was a member of the Board of Trustees of Queens University. In the past he has been a director of the United Way of Greater Toronto, The Institute of Public Administration of Canada and the Metro Toronto Community Foundation.

Dan was appointed Deputy Minister of Health and Long Term Care in February 2000 and was responsible for the largest health organization in Canada, with a budget of $22 billion. During this period, he was a member of the Boards of Directors of the Canadian Institute for Health Information and Canada Health Infoway. In 2012 and 2013 Dan served as the interim CEO of the Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres and also as Chair of Ontario’s panel reviewing their strategy for immunization and vaccination.

GABRIEL J. CHANG

Gabe has over 20 years of strategy experience, through various corporate strategy roles and management consulting.  Gabe currently is Senior Vice-President, Strategy, and leads the Corporate Strategy team at Great-West Lifeco (“Lifeco”), a leading global financial services company offering life insurance, health insurance, retirement and investment services, asset management and reinsurance, with over 30 million customer relationships and $2 trillion of assets under management.  Gabe and his team provide strategy advisory services across Lifeco’s portfolio of market-leading businesses (Canada Life, Irish Life, Empower and Putnam) in Canada, Europe and the US. Gabe is also a member of Canada’s Executive Management Committee.

Prior to Lifeco, Gabe led the Corporate Strategy team at Direct Energy, the North American subsidiary of the multinational energy company, Centrica plc.  Gabe started his strategy career at Bain & Company, a leading global management consulting firm, with engagements across a wide range of sectors, with particular focus on financial services, for clients in North America, Europe and Asia.  Prior to Bain, Gabe was a lawyer, specializing in insurance and commercial litigation.  Gabe holds a B.Sc. in Molecular Genetics & Molecular Biology from the University of Toronto and a J.D. from Western University (London, Canada).

ANDREW GRENVILLE

Andrew Grenville is a 30+ year market research veteran who has conducted an extensive amount of research on research, with a focus on the respondent experience, survey simplification and sample quality. He is the author of Eureka! the science and art of insights and The Insights Revolution: Questioning Everything. He has also published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in the areas of sociology, research methods and medicine, and has been quoted in many publications, including The Economist.

LUC MONGEAU

Luc joined Weston Foods in 2017 as President of the company. His mandate is to drive Weston Foods to become North America’s premier bakery.

Luc is an accomplished consumer goods executive in the food, chocolate and pet care categories, with wide-ranging branding, product development, operations and management experience. Before joining Weston Foods, Luc spent 15 years at Mars Inc., where his roles included setting the global strategic and marketing direction for some of Mars’ leading brands. He became President for the Canadian business and then the multi-billion-dollar North American pet care business.

Luc holds an MBA from Ivey Business School at Western University and a BSc from Université de Sherbrooke. He attended the Advanced Business Program at the Harvard Business School in 2012.  He has also worked as a board member and executive advisor for several top firms in consumer goods and the non-profit space. He has a passion for children’s charities. He is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Luc resides in Toronto with his partner, two children and dogs Precious, Belle and Maxwell. He is known to have a very serious sweet tooth across the company and loves to devour baked goods!

ANA RADUNOVIC

Ana Radunovic is a marketing professional with over ten years of progressive experience leading some of Canada’s most beloved brands. In her current role as Senior Brand Manager, Pain Care at Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health she seeks to deeply understand the needs of Canadians to help them unlock the potential of a pain free life. Grounded in her passion for continuous learning and supporting the development and progression of others, Ana also teaches Marketing Management at her alma mater; The Schulich School of Business at York University. Ana began her involvement with The Salvation Army back in 2016 as a member of the inaugural Marketing Advisory Committee and is honoured to be a newly appointed member of the National Advisory Board.

Ana is a lover of the outdoors, and an avid traveler; so far, her travels have taken her to five continents, 39 countries, and four summits; most recently Everest Base Camp in Nepal as her honeymoon adventure.

DONNA RUDNICKI

Donna Rudnicki, Managing Director, Head of Global Data Management at RBC Capital Markets is leading the implementation of RBC CM’s Data Strategy, establishing and operationalizing a data governance framework, and providing leadership to small- and large-scale projects that are serving to deliver on the business and data roadmaps.

Donna has spent twenty-five years in progressively more senior technology roles, both as a consultant and in leadership roles with the last decade focused on leading Data and Information Management teams.  Prior to her current role at RBC Capital Markets, Donna led both IT Infrastructure and Data Management teams at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), developing both Technology and Data Strategies and executing a wide range of initiatives that supported the delivery against those.  Donna has had opportunities to speak at a number of data conferences in both Toronto, New York and London, won the Waters Technology EDM Professional of the Year in 2020 and advocates for data management through her role on the Board with the Enterprise Data Management Council (EDMC).  Donna also chairs the EDMC Women in Data group for the Americas.

Donna is passionate about making a difference in the community having previously chaired the Board for the Burlington Family Resource Center (BFRC), sat on the Board for the Reach Out Center for Kids (ROCK), participated in a leadership capacity for the United Way campaigns at both the CPPIB and RBC Capital Markets and has been a mentor in the Women in Capital Markets programme.  Donna is involved with The Salvation Army as part of the National Advisory Board and is most excited about the opportunities that lie ahead with this work.

BRUCE V. WALTER

 Bruce V. Walter, B.A., J.D., M.B.A., Ph.D., is the Chairman of Nunavut Iron Ore, Inc., a private company which in partnership with ArcelorMittal operates the Mary River iron ore mine in northern Baffin Island. He is also Vice Chair of Centerra Gold Inc., a Canadian gold producer with mines in Central Asia and projects under development in Turkey and Canada. Bruce was President and CEO of Dynatec Corporation, a Canadian mining company, until its acquisition in 2007.

Before joining Dynatec in 2002, his career included serving as President of Sherritt Inc., a Canadian resources company, President and CEO of Plaintree Systems Inc., a developer of data communication switches, and Managing Director and Co-Head of the Media, Telecom & Technology investment and corporate banking group at BMO Nesbitt Burns.

Earlier in his career, Bruce was Vice-President of Horsham Corporation, which controlled Barrick Gold and acquired Clark Oil and Refining Corporation in the U.S., and prior thereto a partner in the predecessor law firm to Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP.

Bruce is a director of The Westaim Corporation, a public Canadian investment company, and serves on the National Advisory Board of The Salvation Army.

SUSAN WATERFIELD

Susan Waterfield is the retired president of The Waterfield Group. Her consulting company worked with many organizations in Canada and internationally.  Her focus was on governance, public sector reform, organizational design, effectiveness and transformation, workplace harassment and discrimination investigations, labour relations negotiations and program and performance evaluation.

Prior to establishing the Waterfield Group, Susan worked for 32 years the Ontario Government in 11 different Ministries and Central Agencies. Her last position was Associate Secretary of Cabinet for Leadership and Deputy Minister of Government Restructuring.

Her volunteer commitment is extensive, and she has served as a Director and Committee member on various not for profit Boards in the GTA. She is currently a Member on the National Advisory Board, Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda.   She is the current Chair, Lumenus Community Services, one of the largest community mental health and developmental services agencies in Ontario.  She previously served on the Board of Oolagen Youth Mental Health and as a Director, Vice Chair and Chair on the Board of Skylark Children and Youth and Families.  She is the former Chair, the Innovation Institute of Ontario, the former Vice Chair, YMCA Canada, the former Chair, YMCA of Greater Toronto, former Director McCauley Child Development Centre, Member, Human Resource Committee the University Health Network and a former Director of the Toronto Hunt Club.
