National Advisory Board – Visit to Vancouver, B.C.

No scheduled board activities (arrival and hotel check-in)

 

Thursday, September 29

Daytime Itinerary

Meet in the entrance of Sutton Place at 8:10 a.m.

8:15–11 a.m. Tour of Downtown Eastside of Vancouver including Salvation Army facilities in area. The Board will assist in serving lunch at the Harbour Light centre.

11:45 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Luncheon Meeting at the Vancouver Club. (The Board will join with members of the business community for a meeting of the William Booth Society.)

2:00– 3:30 p.m. (Optional) Tours of Salvation Army work in New Westminister or Debra’s Gate, a home for victims of human trafficking.  *Please note that the afternoon tours are optional and if Board members wish to visit one of these centres, please let Jim Champ know by September 21st so arrangements for transportation can be made.

6 p.m. Reception and Dinner

Venue: Telus Offices

Members of the Vancouver Advisory Board have been invited to join us. The Minister of Energy and Mines and Minister Responsible for Housing, the Hon. Rich Coleman, will be the guest speaker.

10:40 Homelessness Presentation continued

11:15 Task Team Reports

SA response to GRO, Legal & Financial Task Team Recommendations (Colonel Floyd Tidd)

NRO, HR & Audit and Finance Committee Updates (Pina Sciarra, Janice Wismer, Cal Buss)

12:15 Lunch (It is anticipated that Task Team discussions will continue throughout lunch)

1 p.m. Close & Travel to Airport (DHQ to arrange transportation)
