Together, we can meet the needs of those who are vulnerable in our communities.

In partnership with The Salvation Army’s Community Response Unit (CRU) and with the support of nine churches, service club and a number of community partners in Lower Sackville, came together to create a Community Outreach Program earlier this year. This program will support individuals who are experiencing food security issues and those who are struggling as a result of a variety of life circumstances.

“We are thrilled to partner with The Salvation Army to help feed members of our community,” says Caroline Gallop with Knox United Church. “The training they provided to our volunteers who will be serving food along with the CRU, are vital to the success of this program, making our community a better place for all.”

The food prepared for the Community Outreach Program is generously provided by:

Each Monday from 5 to 7 pm, the CRU will be stationed in the heart of Lower Sackville at the public library located at 636 Sackville Drive. Four robust teams of well trained volunteers are scheduled to serve rotationally on the CRU.

“Fulfilling the basic needs of those in our communities is a significant part of The Salvation Army’s mission,” says Jan Keats, Emergency Disaster Coordinator. “Creating partnerships such as this in our communities are vital to fulfilling our mission, which aligns with the great work of those involved with establishing this program.”

The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.
