Fire Chief Darby Allen will serve as keynote speaker for the seventh annual Hope in the City Leadership Breakfast, presented by Nova Scotia Power.

The Hope in the City Leadership Breakfast is an annual fundraiser, bringing together 400 business and community leaders in support of the programs and services of The Salvation Army. This event takes place Thursday, May 24 at the Westin Nova Scotian, and will include networking, education and entertainment. Darby Allen’s inspiring story of courage during the Fort McMurray fires speaks to The Salvation Army’s mission of encouraging hope perseverance in the face of adversity.

In spring 2016, Darby spearheaded the evacuation of Fort McMurray’s entire population. Throughout the ensuing weeks of operations, he worked tirelessly with first responders and volunteers, who came from across the nation (and globe) to assist.

His updates to the media were not only a means of reliable information, but a source of optimism—Darby provided calm reassurance as the lead spokesperson throughout the rescue efforts.

Known as the face of the Alberta wildfires—and widely celebrated as a national hero—Darby Allen is an exemplar of selfless courage and level-headedness under pressure.

The Salvation Army is proud to have Darby join us for the 2018 Hope in the City Leadership Breakfast.

CTV Atlantic’s Steve Murphy returns for the seventh consecutive year as emcee. Tickets for the event are $50 each, or $500 for a table of 10. Sponsorship opportunities are available for this event.
