For three years, Emergency Health Services (EHS) paramedics have been hosting large scale toy drives in Walmart parking lots. The first began in Truro and soon spread into Halifax. This valuable contribution supports the ongoing efforts of The Salvation Army to create a brighter Christmas for many.

Organizer Brett Little, a paramedic for 12-years said, “This year, our toy drives are the largest yet, they have grown from a single ambulance and single paramedic team at one event to three paramedic teams and ambulances.” He adds, “We are pushing the envelope and hoping our toy drives will continue to grow to cover every Walmart in the city in the coming years.”

Several EHS paramedic volunteers will come together on December 15th with a shared passion to spread Christmas cheer to hundreds of children. EHS paramedics are also active across the province with food, toy drives, and many other community events. The Halifax EHS Toy Drive is one piece of a much larger supportive and caring network of professionals — Nova Scotia’s Paramedics.

“For us, the joy we receive from having a helping hand in supporting the Salvation Army’s efforts is heartfelt, uplifting, and resonates throughout our organization where we believe in taking an active role to help better the lives of those living in the communities where we serve,” said Brett.
