Each summer, The Salvation Army partners with MOLLY MAID for Christmas in July combatting food shortages in communities across the country. When Food Bank donations are typically at their slowest, MOLLY MAID’s three separate food deliveries to the Centre of Hope in Halifax weighing a total of 914 pounds making up 116 bags were very timely.

“We’re pleased to play a role in helping many families and individuals who would have otherwise battled hunger this summer,” says Owner/Manager for MOLLY MAID, Frank Sullivan. “Each summer, our community, customers, staff and family members look forward to making Christmas in July possible as they work together with our Franchise Owners to collect generous food and monetary donations.”

According to Food Banks Canada, nearly one million Canadians go hungry each summer.

Zachary Woods, a youth volunteer, counted and weighed all of the donations. When asked about what this donation means to him, he says, “It was so much fun helping accept this generous donation, which blew me away.”

“The Salvation Army is grateful to MOLLY MAID for reaching out to its customers for these generous donations,” says Major Doreen Grandy at the Centre of Hope. “Their support helps to provide much needed nutritious meals for many people over the summer months.”
