Engineering strong communities

Strong communities aren't built by concrete and steel alone. It also takes ingenuity, planning, understanding, and compassion from dedicated volunteers. This October, the folks at Stantec rolled up their sleeves to volunteer at The Salvation Army Centre of Hope.

The near 20 volunteers were split into two groups. Half would work in the food room helping to sort donations and prepare bags for The Salvation Army food bank. The other half took to the kitchen, helping to prepare a meal and serve lunch to Centre of Hope clients.

Stantec is known locally, and around the world, for their commitment to volunteering and community engagement. “It was great to have Stantec join us at the Centre of Hope,” said James Woods, Special Program Coordinator. “We were really surprised when, after volunteering with us, they called with news that they held a clothing drive at the office and had a donation ready for the Centre of Hope.”

Stantec’s donation of new and gently-used clothing was large enough to fill The Salvation Army van, and will go a long way in providing dignity for those who may not be able to afford warm clothing.

Thank you Stantec for making a difference in our community.
