The Beary Merry Christmas Concert series hits the road later this week following a successful two-night run in Halifax.

WEBsmallA Christmas tradition, The Beary Merry Christmas Concert wrapped up its 18th year at the Rebecca Cohn on Tuesday night. The event raised funds for The Salvation Army’s Christmas support, and collected more than 1,100 stuffed animals and toys for children in need. The Stadacona Band of The Royal Canadian Navy and The Cantatrice Ensemble entertained more than 1,200 spectators across the two shows with a variety of holiday tunes.

“You are helping put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas,” Major Alison Cowling, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Maritime Division told the crowd on Monday night.

The concert now heads to Sydney for a show on Friday, Dec. 29, at Membertou Trade and Convention Centre. Tickets can still be purchased through the box office by calling 539-2300. Tickets are $8 plus the donation of a toy. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
