Horsing Around

“The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man – and kids,” – Wally McNutt told us as he helped present The Salvation Army Maritime Division with a cheque for $3,150.

Wally and community partner Julie Fulton are passionate about Quarter Horses and kids. Julie’s Max Welton Ranch is located right next door to The Army’s summer camp for kids, Scotian Glen, outside New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.

“We’re always looking for ways to get the kids involved with the animals. We’ve been to the camp with the horses with our ride program. They loved it,” Julie says.

Both Wally and Julie’s hearts were stolen by Scotian Glen Camp, so the next natural thing for them to do was to host another one of their many community fundraisers. They held an auction and dance at Max Welton Ranch in October. The proceeds will go toward the many needs of the camp.

Talk about good neighbours! We’d love to have them back – the two-legged and four-legged variety are welcome anytime!
