A fire took place on Tuesday, June 19th at Villa Anna Apartments at4465 Michigan Avenue in Powell River, BC. All 35 apts. were evacuated with no injuries or asualties. As a result, 45 people have been evacuated and are staying in hotels or with family at this time. Captain Rick Robins of The Salvation Army inPowell River responded to the scene at 11:45am with refreshments and food for emergency personnel. The local Salvation Army Church was designated as a reception center and a team was then activated to offer Emotional and Spiritual Care to the evacuees.<\/p>\n

The Salvation Army is still very active in the process even though the fire has been put out. The difficult part remains with the recovery and in continuing to meet the needs of displaced seniors from the building. The Salvation Army has been working with various local groups and the Red Cross to meet the immediate needs of the people affected at this time and to offer support.<\/p>\n
