Auxiliary Lieutenants Neil & Jen Thompson are new to their roles as Corps Officers at Vernon Community Church but both come from families who attended a Salvation Army and each have spent many years working and volunteering in different roles within the organization.

Here are some quick facts about these faces of the army from the beautiful Okanagan region …

 

What did you want to be when you grew up? 

Neil: Starting 1st Baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays
Jen: a Mother

What is your favourite thing about working for The Salvation Army?

Neil: The ability to journey with people towards a deeper walk with Jesus!
Jen: Getting to live out our mission on a daily basis, and witnessing renewed hope in people.

What’s your hidden talent or little known fact?

Neil: That I make a delicious BBQ’d stuffed pepper
Jen: Recently discovered that I enjoy painting

If you could learn one new personal skill, what would it be?

Neil: To be a songwriter
Jen: How to play guitar

If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?

Neil: To fly, so that I could explore the world more
Jen: To be able to slow down time so that I can get everything done that needs to get done in a day and spend more time with my loved ones.

Favourite movie of all time?

Neil: ‘42’ or ‘Field of Dreams’
Jen: Anne of Green Gables
