Thank you to Mindfield for supporting The Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light this season with the inaugural #socksforhope initiative.

Every year The Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light puts together Christmas Care Packages for individuals in need on Vancouver’s DTES. Items include ponchos, toiletries, clothes, and of course, socks.

Being good neighbours to The Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light, Mindfield was inspired to support the community by hosting a Sock Drive to add to these packages along with contributing all the socks for a recent foot clinic.  As a company, Mindfield has donated 500+ pairs socks for The Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light’s Care Packages.

The program collects pre-loved running, walking, hiking and work boots that have been generously donated. These “old soles” are then re-furbished and distributed to individuals in need in our community.

Availability of an event such as this is important as many clients of the Downtown Eastside suffer from severe conditions and ailments such as gangrene, blisters, overgrown toenails, wounds and trench foot – a condition caused by prolonged exposure of the feet to damp, unsanitary, and cold conditions.
