Set against the backdrop of the Fort Langley National Historic Site, the Ride into History team and volunteers welcomed approx. 80 classic cars and trucks and 90 motorcycles into the Fort Orchard to show off their showpieces. Locals and travelers came out to hear the tunes of the Dave Anthony Band as well as our feature performer, Randy ELVIS Friskie. Both put on a fantastic show that brought the neighbors out of their house for a listen! In total we saw over 500 guests to the concert (not on top of those 80 cars and 90 bikes – estimated in total). Entry was by donation and we received just over $2900. We were joined at the Fort by our presenting sponsors, Envisional Financial, Prospera Credit Union, and the Aldergrove Financial Group as well as some other sponsors such as Sea to Sky Motorsports & Fort Langley Lions. Poomba’s Smokehouse was keeping our guests fed with pulled pork sandwiches and the Fort Langley Lions were keeping everyone’s thirst quenched on the sunny evening.

Saturday’s Charity Ride kick off was at the Fort Langley National Historic Site once again with a Pancake Breakfast provided by the Fort Langley Lions. The Gateway of Hope had 116 riders in total led by Minister of Education, Peter Fassbender and Ride into History Co-Chair, Troy Gaglardi. The Poker Run Ride took them out to Sumas Prairie for ice cream and then over to Chilliwack’s Atchelitz Threshermen’s Association for a look at some antique farm equipment. The third stop was for lunch, provided by Gateway’s Cook Training students at Cultus Lake. The Ride brought them back to the Gateway for a rest, but ultimately a Bike Rodeo where riders and passengers participated in fun and games such as the “slow ride” and “tire toss”. Guests were welcomed into the Gateway of Hope for a Banquet Dinner, catered by Milestones Langley. Guests heard from the Gateway Team, Shelley Besse, President of Envision Financial and Pam, an Opportunities Resident and Cooks Training Student who gave her touching testimonial.

Thank you to all who came to show support and continue to help us to help others.
