The Salvation Army to develop new shelter in Fort St. John

The Province of British Columbia and The Salvation Army announced yesterday, the purchase and redevelopment of the Cedar Lodge Motor Inn.  The new project will provide shelter and transitional beds for people at risk and marginalized in Fort St. John.

The Province will provide approximately $3.2 million for this project, while The Salvation Army will contribute $1 million in equity through the support of donors.

Located at 9824 99th Avenue in Fort St. John, this two-storey building will be managed and operated by The Salvation Army.  Upon completion of the redevelopment, the facility will include 10 minimum-barrier transitional beds, 20 shelter beds and 26 transitional beds.

This redevelopment project provides us the opportunity to expand our services and enables us to continue and provide for those at risk, with the care and support they need.”

Among the resources provided to residents, included will be on and off-site support services, amenity space for addictions programming as well as a drop-in meal centre six days a week.
