Volunteering may be one of the most valuable experiences of your life. You can take action to promote what you think is important and help someone else along the way. Your community benefits from your work and you benefit from your involvment.
According to a Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating conducted in 2007 by Statistics Canada, 46% of Canadians age 15 and over volunteer for charitable and non-profit organizations. There is room for growth.
In 2010 approximately 147,000 volunteers gave more than 1.45 million man hours to The Salvation Army. Volunteers are essential to the work of The Salvation Army.
Whether it’s volunteering at a Salvation Army food bank, knitting items for the homeless, packing Christmas hampers or working with shut-ins, your time will help benefit others. The more volunteers, the more funds the Army can collect to help provide the community with assistance.
