Words cannot convey the extent of my gratitude for your generosity during our recent Christmas campaign. When we asked you to ‘dig deep’ this year, you did. Thanks to your support, The Salvation Army continues to restore hope and dignity for more than 1.6 million Canadians each year.

Fifteen to 20 percent of our annual fundraising revenue is collected during the Christmas season and, while charitable contributions are tax-deductible, there are a few days left for holiday-season giving.

Money collected funds the operation of feeding, addiction and shelter programs. It is used to help the sick, the aged and the less fortunate. It may provide a food basket for a family or prevent the electricity or gas from being shut off. It may give a warm coat to someone, or it may provide school supplies to a child.

Your commitment to helping thousands from coast to coast weather the crises in their lives, is valued not only by those who help them, but by those who benefit from our services.

We hope for your continued support in the future. On behalf of all those working in The Salvation Army we wish you a safe, prosperous and happy New Year.

– Commissioner William W. Francis
Territorial Commander of The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda
