October 1, International Day of Older Persons, is set aside to recognize the contributions of the elderly and to examine issues that affect their lives.

Canada has more seniors than ever before, and given the valuable contribution they have made to this country, it is only fitting that The Salvation Army serves them in ways that protect their dignity and honour.

The Salvation Army helps seniors in many ways. Adult day programs improve participants’ physical and mental well-being. Seminars such as fraud awareness educate and protect seniors. Volunteer visitation provides shut-ins companionship and comfort.

Salvation Army programs work to improve seniors’ quality of life. Contact your local Salvation Army for specific information about the senior services offered in your community.
