Jackson, MS – The Salvation Army is most appreciative of oil giant BP’s donation to support relief efforts related to Isaac, which lashed Louisiana and Mississippi with flooding rains and wind.

BP’s $1M donation will be made to the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army and divided equally between the two hard-hit states. In addition the donation, BP says it’s also providing assistance to employees and their families in the region.

Since August 24, 2012, The Salvation Army has provided over 6,000 meals from its canteens in 10 locations in the Gulf Coast region. As flood waters recede across the region, The Salvation Army anticipates that demand for services will only increase as more pockets become accessible. In addition to feeding and hydration, The Salvation Army is also providing comfort kits, clean up kits, and emotional and spiritual care to survivors and first responders along the Gulf Coast.

Communities cut off from everyday comforts, receive more than just food and water from The Salvation Army. They receive the assurance that they are not forgotten.
