You don’t need money, or ID, or an address. All you need is a desire to read.

In Victoria, B.C. the Bookmobile is a three-cylinder, right-hand-drive Honda truck owned and operated by a former social worker.
The bookmobile putters around town making stops at a Salvation Army residence, a housing co-op, a food bank and a women’s shelter. Five plastic tubs of paperbacks are housed in the open-rear bed.

One man, who lives in his van, credits reading as an aid to staying sober. He picks up a book instead a bottle. Another man who was living on the streets until recently says cracking open a novel keeps his mind occupied and away from thinking about drugs.
