HOURS:  6 hours per week


Position Purpose Summary:

The role of a youth ministry assistant is to assist the youth director in providing a fun, safe and exciting environment for the youth of our community to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.


The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class:

  • Provides input in planning and assists with the implementation of appropriate age-based activities according to skill and learning levels that promote social interaction and personal development
  • May assist in orientating new youth and families; provides on-going feedback on youth’s development and behaviour
  • Ensures that all information about youth, family, staff, visitors and volunteers are strictly confidential; and that activity records and statistics are confidentially secured
  • Assists with effective risk management, monitoring food safety, medication storage/disbursement, allergies, facility cleanliness/maintenance; provides emergency first aid and completes, reports and files incident reports as required
  • Role models appropriate behaviours and attitudes supporting growth and promoting change for the youth and family
  • Ensures that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example
  • Prays with and shares the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with youth and families, endeavouring to connect and involve them with the church as opportunity presents (including linking families to the church family and church programs where possible)
  • May complete administrative tasks such as statistics, web page management, etc
  • Works with the supervisor to ensure that programs meet contractual, legal and internal accreditation requirements; ensures full compliance with child protection legislation and intervene when necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned



  • Non-violent crisis intervention training
  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR
  • Criminal Police investigation check including Vulnerable Sector check
  • Food Safe Certification


  • More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience, including experience working with younger children and youth

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented


Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
