Description

• HOURS: Monday through Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm – 25 – 35 hours per week
• October, November & December - Monday through Saturday – 40 hours per week – possibly up to 8:00 pm

Responsibilities

Position Purpose Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, orientates and monitors, though a database, volunteers within various facilities in the ministry, to assist clients and staff with a range of duties as assigned. Prepares and executes the 2019 Christmas Kettle Campaign which is the largest fundraiser for the ministry

• Develops or assists with the development of policies and procedures for the volunteer program as approved by senior management
• Maintains the Volunteer Hub database, sets up shift schedules/profiles and trains new volunteers on usage
• Prepares and executes the 2019 Christmas Kettle Campaign which is the largest fundraiser for the ministry
• Liaises and build relationships with educational institutions and community groups to promote volunteerism within community groups and attract applicants
• Recruits, orientates, trains, evaluates, recognizes and assigns work in concert with needs at various ministry locations and Salvation Army Territorial Standards; submits incident reports (volunteers, student placements)
• Develops and maintains an appropriate record keeping system
• Maintains statistical records for The Salvation Army regarding benchmarking and Salvation Army Management Information System
• Develops, reviews, and revises volunteer handbook
• May assist with special events and outings
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Completion of up to two (2) years of Community College.(An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable)
• First Aid Certification
• One year prior related experience with volunteer programs
• One year prior related experience in office administration
• Database administration
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Experience in Community Relations or Relationship Management would be an asset

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

• Background check consent
• A clear vulnerable sector screening
• A clean drivers abstract
• Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
