Description
This position will support Kitchener Community Church and Family Care Centre with developing multi-media campaigns and enhancing the voice in supporting those in the community who are experiencing hardship.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Written and Verbal Communication
- Develop social media content to enhance brand’s voice
- Document how to effectively create posts for various social media platforms
Creativity
- Create visually appealing, multimedia campaigns
- Consider aesthetic detail of videos and social posts including images, links, text and formatting
General Duties
- Create weekly posts for summer programs, volunteers, fall and Christmas programming
- Link social media accounts to a social media dashboard
- Prepopulate posts to the social media dashboard to autopost
- Create program advertisements that can be posted/shared leading up to fall registration – parenting now, cooking classes, literacy programs, music programs
- Update, edit and format employee manual and Policies & Procedures
- Update, edit and format volunteer manual
- Update and prepare volunteer packages
Perform other duties as mutually agreed upon.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Working environment is typically in the office/building in a generally agreeable environment
- Be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
- Be available for full 8 weeks of program
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:
- Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of the employment.
- Is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*: and,
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
- *International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Must have experience in developing creative and engaging multimedia posts and videos
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently within the scope of the team
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
