Responsibilities

  • Organizes and manages kettles in (5) locations (5 KETTLES) in the community of Barrhaven
  • Coordinates the kettle schedule for all kettle locations in the community of Barrhaven
  • Organizes and manages kettle schedules for paid kettle workers and volunteers
  • Fosters and maintains positive working relationships with kettle sites, addressing conflicts/issues as they arise
  • Ensures kettle stands/equipment are placed at the pre-arranged locations on time
  • Update and maintain online database
  • Receive and respond to telephone calls from volunteers or general public
  • Complete required documentation for paid employees and volunteers
  • Complete timesheets as required
  • Ensure Kettle Kits have required supplies and information at all times
  • Visit various Kettle locations to monitor recruits and answer any questions
  • Complete and forward a final report to include recommendations
  • Ensures kettle locations are kept well stocked with supplies (i.e. Literature etc.)
  • Oversees the pick-up and delivery of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations
  • Contacts churches, schools, businesses, and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles
  • Ensures that all kettle volunteers are familiar with and complies with SA Kettle guidelines as set by The Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters
  • Works with the Community Ministries Coordinator & Corps Officers to prepare and send out thank you letters to various groups
  • Works closely with the Community Ministries Coordinator & Corps Officers to organize an appreciation luncheon for all kettle volunteers
  • Following the campaign, oversees the pick-up and storage of all equipment from various kettle locations
  • Prepares a detailed report on the campaign to be submitted to the Business Chair and the Corps Officers
  • Represents The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner, with some PR expected
  • Performs other position related duties as required

 

Qualifications

  • A good understanding of Salvation Army Fundraising policies & procedures
  • Demonstrates good leadership skills
  • Good organizational/administrative skills and initiative
  • Excellent human relations/interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of the practices of volunteerism
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both orally & in writing)
  • Ability to give oversight to volunteers and paid kettle workers
  • Experience with general office equipment and a proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Word and Excel)
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License required
  • Understanding and support of the Mission of The Salvation Army

Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:

  • A clear criminal record check
  • A clean drivers abstract

HOURS: 25 hours per week (Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and Saturdays until December 24)
