The Sales Associate provides customer service, sorts incoming products, and assists in maintaining store operations.
- Full-time
- 30 hours weekly (Variable shifts)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes to meeting store sales budgets by maintaining customer service standards
- Implements store layout plans to attract customers including window displays and merchandise displays; ensures attractiveness of the store through “Tidy Maintenance”
- Replenishes inventory levels based on Supervisor’s directions
- Contributes to the control of inventory by retrieving, sorting, and pricing as per directions; protects the store from inventory shrinkage by close visual monitoring
- Contributes to the safety of staff and customers (e.g., Clear fire exits, no obstacles inside/outside store, cleaning spillage, and maintaining store cleanliness)
- Takes responsibility for the accurate completion of all customer transactions including visa, debit, cash, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education Level Attained:
The successful job applicant will have completed High School/Grade 12 or equivalent experience.
Minimum Prior Related Experience:
- Prior retail experience over 3 months would be an asset
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to handle challenging customers
- Basic math skills
- Basic English skills, both written and oral
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
The performance of the job requires continuous standing for long periods, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, kneeling, and entering data for transactions.
Concentration Required:
The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with numbers.
Work Environment:
The incumbent’s work environment is typically in the store.
The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions:
- Garbage
- Washrooms
- Odours
- Truck Fumes
- Verbal Abuse
- Dealing with angry people
- Work schedule may impact life (weekends & weeknights)
