POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sales Associate provides service to customers, sorts incoming products, and assists the supervisor in the maintenance of all store operations.
ELIGIBILITY:
This is a TEMPORARY full-time CANADA SUMMER JOB and applicants MUST BE between 15 – 30 years of age.
- The position starts Monday, July 4th thru Friday, August 26th.
- Monday thru Friday, 9:45am to 5:15pm.
This job is well suited for an individual who is seeking employment in a mission setting and enjoys working with the general public.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes to meeting store sales budgets by maintaining customer service standards
- Contributes to the control of inventory by retrieving, sorting, and pricing. Brand awareness would be a definite asset
- Handle the merchandise in a safe and organized manner; assist in stock rotation – “baling” items in the store
- Ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment.
- Represent the organization in a positive, professional and engaging manner
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience in retail sales
- Cash handling experience is required. Takes responsibility for the accurate completion of all customer transactions including visa, debit, etc.
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion is required.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Basic math skills required to calculate discounts and percentages as well as reading skills
- Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability
- Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
- The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with numbers.
- Ability to stand for long periods with frequent twisting, bending, crouching and reaching is required.
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
