POSITION:

 

Residential Support Worker – Full Time (Overnights/Shift Rotation) Position with Benefits after 3 months

Moncton CJS - Greenfield House

JOB PURPOSE:

The Residential Worker provides a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors.

 

Responsibilities

CHARACTERISTIC JOB DUTIES:

The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class:

·        Monitors the activities of the clients/residents and maintains availability for personal, practical and morale support; may include providing safe storage and recording of prescribed medications

·        Accurately records day-to-day happenings using appropriate methods; maintains logbooks and completes occurrence reports

·        Liaises with referral sources and other external agencies as needed (e.g. Social Development, police, parole, Emergency Response Team)

·        Coordinates client care relating to security issues; may be directly involved in coordinating urine samples, doing bed checks, room/personal searches

·        May carry out inspection/security checks of property and grounds in accordance with policies and procedures

·        Handles some orientation and evaluation of clients’ understanding of rules; ensures ongoing enforcement of policies, which may include client discipline

·        May handle finances relating for Daily Parole Allowance and Cable fees.

·        May serve as Receptionist for the center

·        May prepare or provide simple meals for clients/residents

·        Performs other duties as assigned

NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED:

The successful job applicant will have completed high school, plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months (Addictions/Correctional/Human Services).

NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.

 

SPECIAL LICENSES, DIPLOMAS, CERTIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS:

The successful applicant will hold/have:

  • Addictions/Correctional/Human Services Facility – Addictions/Correctional/Human Services Counselling Diploma
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Experience is an asset

MINIMUM SKILLS RELATED EXPERIENCE:

  • Interpersonal skills
  • Time Management
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Crisis Management
  • Excellent in both written and oral communication skills.

More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience, including,                                                        experience with frontline work in an Addictions/Correctional/Human Services setting.

Hours:            Full Time – 40 hours per week
