HOURS: 10 hours per week


• Assists in the organization, set up and tear down of the art studio
• Assists and supports participants, community and team, providing information, guiding internal referrals within the framework of established policies and procedures
• Actively participates in the program, including following guidance and direction from the Art Therapist and team
• Assists in the facilitation of the therapeutic process and interaction within the studio atmosphere
• Actively fosters a healthy, open and respectful studio for all in attendance
• Functions as a program liaison between Art Therapy team and The Salvation Army team, referring program participants to appropriate supports and services as directed
• Through exercising empathetic care, facilitates effective problem-solving behaviours with participants
• Conducts oneself in a pleasant and professional, person - centered manner
• Assists participants to understand, and ensure they comply with, the various guidelines of the facility in a firm but gentle, polite and diplomatic manner
• To provide basic problem solving while dealing with individuals requiring support in a quiet and efficient manner
• To maintain awareness of any concerns (medical, behavioral, or other) experienced by participants and report pertinent information to the team
• Assists in planning and implementation of Community Art Shows, including active participation in events
• Performs other duties as required


• 1 year but less than 3 years of prior related experience, including working with multi-barriered persons
• The ability to listen attentively
• Willingness for Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and receive guidance from Art Therapy team .

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
• Background check consent
• A clear vulnerable sector screening
• A clean drivers abstract
• Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
