This is a temporary, full-time position based upon 30 hours per week.  The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility.  Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.

Normal hours of operation are Monday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Normal location of work is at St. Catharines Corps/CFS, 400 Niagara Street, St. Catharines, ON, L2M 7N5

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment of volunteers through phone calls or on site at Salvation Army churches.
  • Answer phones as required in response to volunteer inquiries
  • Schedule volunteers on the computerized kettle program
  • Place reminder phone calls to volunteers
  • Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner
  • Perform other position related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of High School or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and disciplined
  • Experience in a similar capacity would be definite asset
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good working knowledge of email and Internet based programs
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs/10 kilos
  • Provide an original copy of a Background Check screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
  • Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
  • Support for and an understanding of mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.
