About the Position
Internally known as the Territorial Manager of Volunteer Services (TMVS), this position is responsible for the development and management of volunteer administration. The incumbent will establish and uphold organizational standards, ensuring that volunteers are utilized effectively and treated as key stakeholders of the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Policy and Strategy
- Establish an organizational framework for the recruitment, orientation, training and support of volunteers and student placements
- Collaborate and dialogue with divisional offices in regards to standards, requirements and volunteer options to ensure consistency across the organization
- Outline a framework of screening criteria for volunteer positions and other accountability measures
- Work collaboratively with section and department leads to develop a volunteer program that meets all accountability criteria and ensures successful volunteer experience
- Ensure volunteer records are maintained accurately and provide statistical reports as required
Volunteer Resources
- Update the volunteer sections of the SalvationArmy.ca website so information is user-friendly, easily accessible and offers a customized experience for interested volunteers
- Organize training events and networking opportunities for divisional/local unit volunteer coordinators
- Attend training events organized by local administration agencies to keep abreast of current trends and legislation
- Develop and implement a recruitment and retention strategy for all volunteer initiatives
- Update and maintain the Volunteer Manual
- Develop strategies for volunteer acquisition and retention
Volunteer Services
- Develop and implement group volunteer opportunities
- Manage corporate and groups interested in volunteer opportunities
- Work collaboratively with Public Relations Development team to partner with national corporate community experiences
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree or equivalent
- Completion of Volunteer Management Certificate, human resources training or equivalent courses an asset
- The incumbent is highly organized with excellent communication skills, project management experience and is able to work with minimal direction
- The incumbent follows a team-building approach to problem solving and can operate within a complex management structure
- The incumbent has proven customer service skills and experience supervising others
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- 3-5 years of related experience in volunteer management, human resources or a related field
- Experience with volunteer program development in a not-for-profit environment is an asset
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and planning skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands
Compensation
The salary range for this position is based on the primary location for which the job is posted and may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate.
The target hiring range for this position is $73,523 to $91,903 with the ability to progress to a maximum of $110,284. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications relevant to the role.
