Maintenance Worker

Description
HOURS: Regular Full Time/37.5 hours/wk
Position Purpose Summary:
The Maintenance Worker provides upkeep and regular maintenance of the buildings and various other holdings under the direction of Director of Environmental Services.
Responsibilities
- Performs minor repairs in a variety of trades such as electrical, carpentry, dry walling, plumbing and painting.
- Ensures the general upkeep of external property, including pressure-washing sidewalks, alleys and underground parking lot, keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice, picking up litter, cleaning rooftops, sweeping sidewalks, and removing graffiti.
- Moves, assembles, and arranges furniture as required.
- Changes ceiling tiles as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Willingness to adhere to the Mission Statement of Harbour Light and the values of The Salvation Army.
- Once year of prior related experience including maintenance and general repairs.
- Certified with WHMIS
- Must obtain Criminal Record Check in accordance with Criminal Records Review Program.
- Current Certification in First Aid/CPR is an asset.
- Completed High School, plus specialized courses of up to six months.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
