Position Purpose Summary:

The Salvation Army's Southview Heights and Terrace is a Senior Residence located in South Vancouver. We are looking for Licensed Practical Nurse that wish to work in a warm and loving environment. Your job would be to provide care to our Assisted Living Resident’s.

HOURS:  Casual/On-Call

Responsibilities

  • The implementation of the Assisted Living philosophy and concepts
  • Ensuring that the assisted living services provided to residents meet the Personal Service Plan developed by VCH Case Manager and Assisted Living Manager.
  • Monitor and maintain resident service plans.
  • Follow the Assisted Living guidelines set out by the Assisted Living Registrar, Vancouver Coastal Health.
  • Primary responsibility is to coordinate medication management and support.
  • Resolving service delivery issues for residents and their families, Pharmacy, Home Nurses, Case Manager, Physician and Dietician in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Providing staff and residents with a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Administers medications and treatments according to the professional standards of the licensing body in the respective province.
  • Assesses resident behaviors and physical status and reports changes to the Assisted Living Manager; takes appropriate steps to ensure resident safety.
  • Assists residents with ADL’s and IADL’s.
  • Assists other departments with daily routines to enhance quality of life and ensures health and safety or the residents.
  • Provides clinical supervision to the Personal Service Workers for delegated tasks.
  • All other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years working experience in a seniors’ environment
  • LPN certification
  • Medication monitoring certificate from VCH/Capillano College
  • First Aid/CPR
  • WHIMIS Training

PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities:

  • Excellent oral and communication in English.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to read and implement duties and work routines.
  • Able to support the mission statement of Southview Heights and Terrace.

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, will be required to provide:

  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A TB Test
