The Kettle Worker provides the secure and courteous oversight of a designated Christmas Kettle.


Key Responsibilities:

·       Greets and thanks donors courteously with friendly greeting to all.

·       Presents a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) for The Salvation Army while on duty.

·       Remains at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations and equipment.

·       Responds to questions/queries from potential donors regarding TSA ministries and programs.

·       Maintain digital payment equipment as required. (i.e., Tip Tap, POS terminal)

·       Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

·       Some high school coursework

·       High School diploma or equivalent will be considered as an asset


·       Up to three months prior related experience is beneficial

·       Clean Criminal Record Check


  • Possesses good customer service skills – be friendly, courteous, positive, outgoing, flexible, task oriented, patient.
  • Possesses good oral communication skills.
  • Be able to work independently/self-motivated.
  • Willingness to work indoors at high traffic retail locations.
  • Ability to focus on job and refrain from distractions, i.e. mobile phone use, texting, etc.
  • Follow the dress code and maintain a well-groomed appearance.
  • Must provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.  The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment
  • Must provide an original copy of a current Alberta “Class 5” Driver’s License and current Driver’s Abstract.
  • Support for and an understanding of the mission and the purpose of The Salvation Army.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Completion of our online Prasedium Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training

DAYS and HOURS of work:

Monday to Saturday, 12 pm to 7 pm but flexible.  Temporary Contract till December 24, 2022.
