This is a temporary, full-time position based upon 40 hours per week.  The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility.  Normal hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, and include a ½ hour unpaid meal break where applicable.  When campaign starts, schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities, will include days, afternoons, and evenings, Monday through Saturday, flexibility in scheduling is required. Normal location of work is at Windsor Centre of Hope, 355 Church Street, Windsor Ontario N9A 7G9.  Some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign volunteers
  • Recruitment, orientation and performance management of Christmas Kettle Campaign volunteers
  • Ensure that all Christmas Kettle Campaign Volunteers are aware of the location, days, times, dress code standards and other pertinent information
  • Delivery and pick-up of kettle to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donation
  • Respond to all emergency absences and/or scheduling breakdowns, by scheduling another worker and also informing designated Supervisor if unable to fill that spot
  • Cover a partial shift or pick up a kettle, etc., if there is an emergency need
  • Host a kettle sites to ensure coverage for breaks
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites
  • Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature etc.
  • Record statistical data and preparing weekly timesheets, as required
  • Prepare photo ID cards for Kettle Workers
  • Ensure all equipment is retrieved from storage, cleaned and repaired as necessary
  • Ensure bags containing printed materials are ready for delivery each morning
  • Post campaign; retrieve all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations
  • Honest, courteous and punctual; prepared to act in the best interest of employer
  • Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner.
  • Perform other position related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license, own vehicle and insurance, a copy of current driver’s abstract that is  satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required
  • Provide an original copy of a Criminal Background Check screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
  • Completed High School, Post-Secondary education is an asset
  • Prior related experience would be a definite asset
  • Experience in office administration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting
  • Experience with general office equipment and Microsoft Office applications
