Position Purpose Summary:

The Kettle Coordinator position for the 2024 Christmas Kettle Campaign is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.
This is a part time fixed term position running from November 4 to December 24, 2024.
The hours for this position will be as follows:
November 4-30, 2024: 10 hours/week
December 1-21, 2024: 30 hours/week
December 23-24, 2024: 10 hours/week
Shifts will be scheduled between Monday and Saturday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
- Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset.
- Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion.
- Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City/Assistant Coordinator.
- Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required.
- Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign.
- Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers.
- Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently.
- Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis).
- Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
- Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:
- Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset
Experience:
- Working with volunteers
- Working or volunteering in a position with leadership responsibilities
- Working in a fast-paced environment
- A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service
- Money handling experience is an asset

- Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required
- Access to email and cellular phone required (allowance provided)
- Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs)
