Description

To create a clean and orderly environment for residents, visitors, and staff at Southview Heights and Terrace, using attention to detail.

Hours:  

  • 27 hours weekly
  • Saturday & Sunday: 7:00am – 3:00pm
  • Monday - Wednesday: 8:00am – 12:00pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Housekeeping

  • Cleaning of each resident apartment including washroom and kitchen.
  • Keep storage areas and carts clean & tidy
  • Remove garbage/debris from floors, hand rails or where found that is not in garbage cans.
  • Clean common area laundry/washrooms before end of shift daily.
  • Clean windows & blinds on rotational cleaning time & record suite numbers on sheets provided.
  • Thorough cleaning of vacated suites following cleaning check list.
  • Accommodate requested duty assignments from Support Services Supervisor
  • Make sure activity rooms are clean and tidy and prepare rooms for meetings, or social functions. Assist in taking down and cleaning.
  • Inform Support Services Supervisor when supplies are getting low.
  • Be able to clean unexpected accidents that would be related to the housekeeping department and perform other duties as required.

Laundry

  • Pick up, sort, wash, dry, fold or hang laundry as required.
  • Environmental laundry to be washed & dried daily.
  • Dietary laundry (table cloths, napkins, aprons, & kitchen towels) to be washed & dried daily.
  • Keep all laundry equipment clean & tidy. Dryers to be vacuumed daily.
  • Perform other duties as required.  Follow infection control procedures.

Weekend Duties

  • Responsible for calls from Terrace emergency pendant/pull cords.
  • Clean and restock all common area washrooms and laundry rooms.
  • Table cloths & napkins to be washed & put away for RCAs to fold.
  • Aprons, kitchen towels, gloves & placemats to be washed & put away in kitchen if need be.
  • Other duties to be followed according to the weekend duty list: cleaning chapel, offices, Heights stairwells & hallway in front of elevators etc.
  • All garbage to be removed from common areas, laundry rooms and kitchen before end of shift.  Flatten boxes & empty recycling bins.
  • Wash Heights laundry & fold clean linen as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate.
  • WHMIS training/certificate.

Experience:

  • Five years’ experience in housekeeping service preferably in the service industry.
  • Experience working with seniors and/or individuals with cognitive and physical challenges preferred.

PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities:

  • Excellent oral and communication in English.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to read and implement duties and work routines.
  • Able to support the mission statement of Southview Heights and Terrace.

Successful candidates will be required to provide:

  • Background check consent
  • A TB Test
