Position Purpose Summary:   

As a member of the Bethany Hope Centre team, in a cooperative team-based environment, the Development Coordinator will build strong community relations and partnerships, assist to develop volunteers and donors, manage the facility rental program and provide oversight to the various connections/fundraising opportunities throughout the year.

Responsibilities

  • Will assist and support the BHC ministry unit achieve its mission and influence into the community through increased presence, public awareness and funding support for its work
  • Will work in cooperation with local support personnel as well as support from the local and Divisional Public Relations Department
  • Will provide fundraising, administrative, organization and practical support to Christmas Kettle Campaign, Santa Shuffle and other local fundraising initiatives
  • Will conduct one other annual fundraising initiative
  • Will seek opportunities to build and foster personal relationships and partnerships with local businesses and community groups
  • Comfortable being asked to speak on behalf of the centre in donor/fundraising situations
  • Will support community donors in a variety of ways (information, thank you letters etc.)
  • Will monitor on-line donor programs such as Canada Helps and set up campaign pages
  • Create and manage social media strategy for the centre
  • Ensure that appropriate records are kept in all matters pertaining to the position
  • Manages the facility rental program and supports ED in building management issues as required (organizing for coverage of rentals, setting up, cleaning, repairs, etc.)
  • Seeks input from the BHC Leadership Team about program/funding needs
  • Will utilize Little Green light when assisting with volunteer and donor management
  • May assist with selection and supervision of volunteers
  • Will manage a budget and report to ED regularly
  • Will perform other related tasks as required

 

Qualifications

  • Applicant to have up to 2 years Community College- or prior related experience in fundraising, volunteer management and/or donor relations
  • Working towards CFRE considered an asset (Certified Fundraising Executive)
  • Passionate about the mission and values of the Bethany Hope Centre
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, motivational, administrative and computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills/positive attitude
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Communication skills (both oral and written) and an ability to interact with the public
  • Bilingual (French and English) an asset
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Good computer skills/ability to embrace growing technology needs
  • Teachable spirit/provides and takes direction/a willingness to be coached/take relevant training
  • Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License

The successful candidate upon hiring will need to provide:

  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A favourable drivers abstract
  • Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually

HOURS:  35 hours per week. Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required
