Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing and enhancing the operations and activities of the 5 Shelters in Region of Peel and Women’s Counselling Centre
  • Ensure that the core mission, vision, values and service philosophy are articulated and pervasive within the culture of the facility
  • Develops long-term strategic initiatives and action plans including asset assessment, asset deployment resource requirements and training plans
  • Ensures Divisional compliance with standards, legalities and best practices established. Provides input to Divisional Headquarters in the development of best practices, policies and processes for Peel Region facilities including the development of accreditation and evaluation standards
  • Responsible for effective forward planning (strategic, operational, financial, etc.) to provide service excellence, reflecting community alignment, best practice, financial viability and sustainability for shelters in Region of Peel
  • Ensure program excellence through research, program and outcome evaluation, external consultation, quality improvement and standards of ethical practice
  • Identify and implement effective practices for risk management to ensure workplace safety for beneficiaries and staff, minimize liability and uphold the reputation of the Peel Region Shelters and The Salvation Army
  • Actively participate at community tables (i.e. Peel Alliance to End Homelessness, Built for Zero, etc.)
  • Ensures ministry unit staff is trained in and are in compliance with best practices, and customizing policies and processes
  • Represents The Salvation Army, Divisional Headquarters working in conjunction with our Mission Statement by promoting and maintaining a positive image of the organization through the provision of high caliber leadership and by dealing with the public and collaborative agencies in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in an appropriately related field and/or professional designation.

NOTE:   An alternative level of education combined with directly related experience may be acceptable

  • Minimum five (5) years of directly related experience in a management supervisory role including financial management, business management, and social service management experience
  • Must have minimum 5 years Executive Management experience in Social Services Setting
  • Thorough knowledge and proficiency in strategic planning, program development and evaluation
  • A successful history of budget application, negotiation, management, program administration financial development
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written), interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Articulate with the ability to build long-term contracts, arrangements and relationships
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with other community-based organizations, The Regional Municipality of Peel and various government agencies
  • Sound knowledge and application of human resource management and accounting policies and principles
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Lotus Notes
  • Must have excellent analytical and mathematical skills
  • Job and/or volunteer experience working for a non-profit organization would be an asset
  • Ability to multi-task within a high pressure environment
  • Must have valid Driver’s License

Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:

  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually

HOURS: 40 hours per week
