Position Purpose Summary:

The Community and Family Services Specialist will plan, develop, organize and provide advisory services to corps-operated Community and Family Services facilities to achieve standardization and develop outcome measurement tools to determine best practices in a community and family services setting.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with Area Commanders, Divisional Secretary Social Services corps and C&FS operations to identify opportunities for development of programs and services
  • Acts as an internal resource at the Divisional level
  • Aware of community resources and trends in programs and services and assists MUs with making those connections
  • Assists in writing proposals and or grants
  • Conducts an analysis of all C&FS ministry units to determine need and optimal operational service levels
  • Creates innovative and strategic planning initiatives to enhance existing programming in various communities and makes recommendations and proposals to ACs for implementation at the MU-level
  • Consults with the Territorial Integrated Mission department on the Pathway of Hope initiative and ensure that it is given priority in ministry units where appropriate
  • Ensures compliance with established standards, establishes action plans and implements best practice processes in collaboration and consultation with Corps Officers and ACs
  • Identifies areas of risk and liability to the organization. Works with Corps Officers to produce strategic and specific actions to address areas of concerns
  • May work with other internal and external specialists to remedy areas of concern
  • Assists with the development of local and regional networking with like agencies and represents The Salvation Army as necessary
  • Establishes, directs and oversees significant proactive measurement criteria to ensure the effective management of The Salvation Army services and programs
  • Designs and presents oral, written and electronic supportive materials for applicable projects, processes and training needs
  • Document and performs statistical analysis in relevant areas of expertise in relation to C&FS programs and report/present findings
  • Provides training and learning opportunities that will support front line C&FS workers in the field (ie. Link2feed)

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Undergraduate University Degree – Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent.
  • Seven to ten years of prior related experience, including consulting in a relevant area such as community development, strategic planning, budgetary experience and a strong background in a specialist field. He/she must be able to integrate multiple disciplines in the provision of consulting services. The incumbent has experience in considering the business needs and functions of other departments within the organization and has led a community program – preferably C&FS.

Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:

  • A clear criminal record check
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually

HOURS: 40 hours per week
