Position Purpose Summary:

The Finance Systems Business Analyst gathers key information from subject matter experts of various accounting and business lines such as accounting operations, reporting and analysis teams, treasury, payroll. This position is responsible for analyzing current and future practices and procedures of the organization and configuring and maintaining systems to meet organizational needs. This position will work closely with internal Finance department teams to ensure systems are functioning efficiently and create reports from the system to meet decision making. The analyst will aid in the implementation and testing of all system upgrades.

Responsibilities

Provides technical design and support in Financial systems as follows:

  • Serves as a key business partner and liaises regularly with various functions throughout the organization to obtain necessary information
  • Utilizes extensive knowledge of functional processes and current systems expertise to develop and validate new functional business requirements as they relate to operations.
  • Participates in functional team meetings to assess and document business process changes and their impact upon current and future operations.
  • Recommends and influences best practice solutions when enhancing business processes, application design and technology enablement.
  • Facilitates requirements gathering and documentation efforts as they relate to an assigned business objective.
  • Refines functional requirements to include: prioritization, elimination and consolidation.
  • Documents requirements for internal and external interfaces, data conversion, reporting, workflow and security for business processes
  • Identifies, documents and escalates risks and issues to the Director of Systems and Technology.

Create business user reports from Finance Department’s financial systems:

  • Document report requirement and create Unit4 Business World Accelerator reports
  • Review and re-write current reports to ensure reports are accurate and useful for decision making
  • Document report requirements and create reports using SQL in Ultimate UltiPro
  • Create Ad-hoc management report as required

Configure and test system functions and provide end user support

  • Test and implement new functions in both Unit4 Business World and Basware Travel & Expense system.
  • Respond to user requirement and configure system changes
  • Work with Systems support assistant to troubleshoot end user issues

System implementation:

  • Assist Director of Systems and Technology to evaluate new systems
  • Assist the implementation of new systems and processes

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education requirements:

Education/Certifications:

  • Completed university degree in a related field from an accredited program
  • An acceptable combination of education, skills and experience will be considered.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience working with the configuration of large Business Systems.
  • Experience with SQL coding with the ability to write and modify is a must
  • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
  • Proven Business Analysis experience in detailing process development, planning, requirements gathering, reporting and tracking, especially managing user’s expectations.
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation and methodology development.
  • Knowledge of business processes, management and business office operations.
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • The performance of the job requires significant analysis, judgement and concentration in the completion of complex technical analysis and entries in the financial system.
  • Experience using productivity tools such as Access, Excel, SQL Server Manager, etc
  • Ability to organize multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience using a methodical approach to troubleshooting and documentation
  • Experience creating detailed documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Experience dealing directly with customers.
