Description

HOURS: 

  • Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm (35 hrs per week)

Responsibilities

Position Purpose summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide a welcoming, “hopeful” experience to those coming into the Centre for assistance by pulling off the band aid and providing the tools for success!

  • Develop current curricula for the Employment Readiness portion of the Learning Centre
  • Create course outline that supports students in gaining necessary skills for employment
  • Teach class of up to eight students employment readiness, POS, Customer Service, WHMIS
  • Develop and Maintain contacts with community agencies for referrals and networking
  • Coach students one on one to cultivate necessary skills for employment such as:  Resume Building, Cover Letters, Resource List building, and how to prepare for Interviews

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have completed high school, plus specialized courses of up to six months.

  • Student centred approach to employment Services
  • Experience working with diverse population
  • working knowledge of community resources
  • Theoretical or applied knowledge of employment Counselling and ethical practices
  • ability to self-manage complex responsibilities and work environment
  • intermediate to advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

 

NOTE:  An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable

 

Education/Certifications:

  • Grade 12

 

Experience:

  • One year but less than three years prior related experience

 

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Must be comfortable working with Computers
  • Ability to empathize with students current situation no matter your personal beliefs

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
