The Digital Media Specialist reports directly to the Digital Media Producer and is responsible for managing the look, layout and branding the divisional subsites on the website as well as preparing online reports, and social media graphics/strategies with the marketing team. The Digital Media Specialist creates and updates content for the templated site provided by Territorial Communications, The Digital Media Specialist provides resources and training in digital best practices, such as adopting accessibility features for those with disabilities, layout, design and assisting ministry units with their templated sites as required. The Digital Media Specialist also assists with graphic design projects and audio-visual needs as assigned for events, stewardship projects and social media.


Website and Email Management:

  • Ongoing maintenance of the divisional subsite on website
  • Responsible to ensure ministry units are AODA compliant for their websites if applicable
  • Assist ministry units with aspects of or peer-to-peer fundraising sites as applicable
  • Modification/creation of website landing page, forms, content pages, contact forms, etc.
  • Modification/creation of email newsletters & fundraising appeals using industry best practices and adhering to privacy and anti-spam legislation in partnership with the divisional development team as applicable
  • Suggesting areas of potential optimization across all web/digital channels using A/B testing and structured reporting
  • Regular reporting on website and email performance with accompanying recommendations for improvement
  • Train and offer technical support to ministry unit website admins

Video Production

  • Performs the following video production functions: Shoots & edits raw footage; adds audio and special effects; adds titles and graphics; produces and edits the master video
  • Ensures compliance with established video production standards as well as the mission, vision, and values of The Salvation Army
  • Assist in all regular video productions which includes shooting, editing, and mastering
  • Participates in all live productions including webcasts and multi camera shoots. Serves as a member of the general film crew with emphasis on capturing raw footage.  This to include camera person, audio, lighting and general support duties with occasional travel for location filming
  • Partners with others in the Marketing and Communications Team with the day-to-day digital projects


  • Completion of a college/university program in computer science, graphic arts, web design or digital marketing is required
  • Three years of prior related experience. Must have experience working with WordPress, HTML, Dreamweaver, Adobe Creative Suite

  • Proven oral and written communication ability, especially as it relates to copywriting
  • Detail-oriented, organized, confident and self-directed
  • Strong presentation skills, oral and written
  • Superb customer service skills and experience
  • Creative and able to produce well thought out projects
  • Strong word processing and publishing computer skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of French an asset
