This is a casual relief position with no guaranteed hours.  Flexibility in scheduling is required.  The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility.  Applicable shifts include a ½ hour paid meal break.

Operational hours of this facility are 24 hours

This is a unionized facility.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment; recommends repairs and purchases as required.
  • Reports safety concerns and major repairs issue (e.g. furniture and fixtures).
  • Ensures the general upkeep of the facility such as cleaning floors, washrooms, windows, dusting, collects and disposes of garbage, vacuums.
  • Checks, cleans, moves, arranges and dusts furniture as required.
  • Ensures the general upkeep of external property such as keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice, cleaning main floor outside windows, picking up litter, sweeping sidewalks, and watering.
  • Checks doors/windows to ensure building and resident security; provides access to the facility and secures the facility as needed.
  • Restocks washroom supplies and distributes received material as required.
  • Spot washes accessible walls, and shampoos carpets as required.
  • Monitor and maintain mixed cleaner bottles for custodial, front line and kitchen staff use. Ensure that all bottles contain WHMIS compliant labeling.
  • Keep a log of all building maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all supplies.
  • Refer all Resident inquiries to front desk staff or Case Worker.
  • Report to the supervisor safety concerns and major repair issues; new equipment that is required or broken equipment, which needs to be repaired or replaced.
  • Other duties as requested by the Director and/or supervisor.

 

Qualifications

  • The successful job applicant will have completed High School
  • More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience, including life skills and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance procedures.
  • Must have valid WHMIS, First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Vaccination against Tuberculosis
  • Note: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
