HOURS:

  • 17 hours a week or more depending on the direction of the DCS and possible emergency and disaster assistance
  • Attending monthly team meetings is required

Responsibilities

  • Performs circle checks of trucks every use and maintains truck logs and submits logs in the red driver binder under the correct month
  • Loads and unloads food from the kitchen / warehouse, destinations, and other storage facilities while maintaining FOODSAFE levels, including temperature  testing at site for serving
  • Temperature of fridge to be checked daily when in use
  • The ability to lift more than 25 lbs
  • Stock all needed supplies, place orders for food and supply on shopping white board for the DCS to order
  • On a weekly basis, deeper clean of CRU (outside and inside), fuel up using Element Card, water filled, grey water emptied when needed, check propane levels
  • Put all garbage & recycling in the appropriate areas and break down the boxes you use
  • On a monthly basis, sweep out bay, check the hours used on Generator to assess if an oil change is needed
  • At the beginning of each month the incumbent must complete a CRU Inspection Report and put back in driver binder to keep the records updated
  • Assess needs for maintenance and report any issues to your DCS
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Have food and supplies ready at the designated location by 5:15 pm every Tuesday and Thursday night (this may include meeting a driver at Mission Flats prior to this time). Supplies should include:
  • Soup
  • Sandwiches for up to 100 people
  • Coffee-water Cambro
  • Juice/water Cambro
  • Food insert
  • Cutting Board and knife
  • Butter knives
  • Serving utensils
  • Desserts
  • Bleach water
  • As available: sleeping bags, warm clothes, supplies to give out
  • Assist with food service
  • Leadership of volunteer team
  • Light clean after food service
  • Return food supplies to the church to be cleaned
  • Ensure gas tank is never less than half filled
  • Plan / discuss meal ideas with the DCS every mid-month for the next month
  • Organize food required to cook meals, prepare and cook healthy balanced meals
  • Supervise volunteers with the direction of the DCS and Volunteer Coordinator
  • Communicate to DCS 7 days prior if an order is required for the meals
  • Support the program by sharing the love of Jesus Christ
  • Collect stats on the Stat Form and submit to Administration Coordinator to record in the database at the end of each month.

Qualifications

  • The successful job applicant will have completed High School, plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months.
  • NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.
  • Special licenses, Diplomas, Certifications or requirements:
  • FOODSAFE SAFE LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE
  • At least 2 years of cooking experience for 100 plus people
  • Non-Violent Crises Intervention
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Proof of a clean driving abstract from ICBC
  • Valid Driver’s Licence Class 5 or higher
