This is a permanent, full-time position based on 40 hours per week. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility.  Normal hours of operation are Monday to Friday 04:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and include a ½ hour paid meal break where applicable.  Normal location of work is at The St. Catharines Booth Centre, 184 Church St, St. Catharines, Ontario L2R 3E7.  Some travel may be required.

  • Prepare Community Assessments for review at the Admissions Committee meeting.
  • Prepare case management and sign out files for new arrivals.
  • Conduct intakes with new arrivals.
  • Participate in the completing of goal and case plan with new clients and their parole officers.
  • Complete daily activity record reports for statistical purposes.
  • Complete Psycho-Social Assessments on clients.
  • Write Progress Summary Reports whenever necessary.
  • Liaise with Correctional Service Canada Staff.
  • Participate in Case Conferences with clients and Parole Officers whenever necessary.
  • Complete incident reports whenever necessary.
  • Participate in Disciplinary Interviews whenever necessary.
  • Contact other social service agencies whenever necessary to provide client referrals.
  • Supervise residents with regard to their adherence to house rules and parole conditions.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and develop a rapport with the clients.
  • Keep case notes on all individual counseling sessions with clients current and up-to-date as well as maintenance of program notes.
  • Complete weekend curfew sheets and distribute authorized weekend passes when necessary.
  • Develop program ideas in order to meet the needs of the clients.
  • Deliver programs / house meetings as required.
  • Conduct rounds of the CRF Unit regularly throughout shift.
  • Review CRF log book once or twice per shift to monitor\track client whereabouts.
  • Properly store, inventory, and record client medications.
  • Report violations of parole conditions in accordance with policy.
  • Log pertinent information in the official registers and OMS.
  • Responsible for CRF client incidentals, i.e. the delivery, balancing, tracking, and updating of the petty cash as necessary.
  • Responsible for the order/purchase, allocation and monitoring of the supply levels necessary to stock and maintain all cleaning supplies for CRF client use.
  • Sort, stamp and file CRF incoming mail and faxes.
  • Perform other duties as required.


  • Successful completion of an Undergraduate degree, i.e. B.A., B.Sc. or B.Sc.N.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience, including, experience with direct counselling in an applicable social service field.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, own vehicle and insurance required. Must provide an original copy of current driver’s abstract that it satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.
  • Ability to form effective professional relationships with a foundation of trust.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined.
  • First Aid & CPR and NVCI Certification.
  • Strong time management skills to effectively handle multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain information in confidence and exercise good judgement.
  • Must have strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD); spread sheet use (EXCEL)
  • Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible, versatile, and/or tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Build Relationships: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
  • Be able to obtain clearance through the Enhanced Reliability Screening process through Corrections Canada.
  • Support for and an understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.
