Description

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time (40 hours per week) Various Shifts

Responsibilities

o Serves actively as a member of the senior management team for the Corps/Centre, and oversees the Community Ministries team.
o Gives direct supervision to Supervisors as indicated on the Organizational Chart.
o Ensures that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example and is shared with clients, staff and volunteers.
o Gives oversight to all community ministries programs, ensuring ministry objectives are consistently accomplished and that a spiritual focus is applied to all program initiatives.
o Shares the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with clients, staff and volunteers, endeavoring to assimilate them into the Body of Christ, as appropriate (including linking clients to the church family and the church programs where possible)
o Makes effective recommendations on the hiring, orientation, training, evaluation, recognition, discipline and termination in concert with Territorial standards; submits and act on incident reports; deals with complaints.
o Develops recommendations for staff and volunteer development, handles recruitment, orientation, performance management and terminations with Corps Officer/Executive Directors approval.
o Responsible for Fundraising and pursuing potential Grant opportunities.
o Engages in ongoing planning to ensure programming reflects client needs as these may evolve in our changing socioeconomic climate.
o Works with the management team in the preparation of an operating budget for the community ministries programs and monitors financial performance accordingly.
o Contributes to the development of policies and procedures for community ministries programs in consultation with senior management and/or frontline supervisors.
o Ensures that programs meet all contractual, legal and internal accreditation requirements.
o Networks with non-Salvation Army government and community social assistance and service providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients.
o May implement a local Emergency Response Plan, assisting with provincial/federal emergencies as required.
o Coordinate in cooperation with front line supervisors marketing strategies to ensure continued Thrift Store revenue growth
o Coordinates annual fundraising efforts in cooperation with front line supervisors.
o Provides visibility for The Salvation Army within the community through service club participation, media relations, general public relations, etc.
o Participates as a regular member of the Community Council.
o Provides spiritual care as needed to staff, volunteer and clients.
o Provides other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

o Completed a Community College Program and proven experience in management and supervision with a strong emphasis on team building
o Any special credentials specific to the programs to be supervised.
o Team building and management skills an asset.
o Good interpersonal and organization skills.
o Functional computer skills.
o Valid driver’s license
o Police Security Clearance Certificate.
o Administration/Financial Management Diploma.
o The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules):
 Universal precautions
 Criminal Police Investigation Check (CPIC)
 Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training.
