The Community Drop-in Supervisor position exists to support the operation of Weetamah’s Daytime Community Drop-in, which has been implemented on a temporary basis in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. With support from this position, a safe space with various services (food, washrooms, a place to rest, books, movies, etc.) will be provided to the community.

This is a temporary part-time position at 22.5 hours per week.


  • Ensure each day has enough scheduled staff/volunteers for the operation of the drop-in, including arranging for a security guard from a security company
  • Coordinate the food service portion of the drop-in, including purchasing and picking up snacks when needed and monitoring food supply levels
  • Ensure the drop-in is stocked for cleaning supplies and PPE
  • Report any property maintenance-related concerns to the Corps Officer
  • Ensure incident reports are followed up on and properly documented
  • Participate in the operation of the Daytime Drop-in space in the Weetamah gym alongside other staff/volunteers, including serving snacks, cleaning tables/chairs, screening individuals for COVID-19 upon entry and referring individuals to other services at Weetamah or the surrounding area
  • Follow safety measures and ensure drop-in participants are following safety measures, including social distancing and other COVID-related protocols
  • Fill out a daily log sheet regarding any points to note throughout the day, and complete incident reports when necessary
  • Take note of any food/cleaning supplies that are running low and needing to be replenished
  • Communicate with security should any incidents arise


Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completion of high school
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Adult and Child Abuse Registry Checks
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid and CPR certification would be an asset


Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • Previous experience in working with the homeless population
  • Social work background would be an asset

Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to deal with high stress situations
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong verbal communication and conflict mediation skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Familiarity with COVID-related protocols and confidence in enforcing safety measures

Working Conditions:

  • Working environment is often in a fast-paced setting that requires an ability to multitask
  • May be required to be on their feet for prolonged periods
  • Moderate physical dexterity required, as well as an ability to lift up to 20lbs
  • May encounter the following disagreeable working conditions: dealing with angry/intoxicated people, exposure to verbal abuse and disinfecting dirty tables and chairs
