Description

This position will assist with all things Christmas.  Taking applications for Christmas assistance, picking up donations of food for the food bank, distribution of hampers and toys, participation in community events that The Salvation Army host or partner with and assist with the Christmas Kettle Campaign.  Must hold a valid drivers license.

This is a temporary full-time position with variable shifts Monday to Saturday from November 16, 2020 to January 8, 2021.

Responsibilities

  • Take Christmas assistance applications
  • Distribute hampers for family services and for Christmas
  • Distribute toys
  • Record documentation from families and individuals needing assistance
  • Arrange kettle deliver or pickup as needed
  • Assist with the counting of kettles
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Education Level Attained:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent

Minimum Prior Related Experience:

  • Training will be provided

Physical Effort/Dexterity Required:

  • The performance of the job requires continuously standing for long periods of time. Frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling, lifting (up to 40lbs), kneeling and entering data for transactions.

Concentration Required:

  • The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with paperwork.

  • Verbal Abuse (Customers/Clients)
  • Dealing with angry people
  • Work schedule may impact life (weekends, evenings)

  • Exposure to toxic chemicals
  • Moving objects
  • Risk of back injuries (throwing back out)
  • Working in the outdoors with cold weather
